ASSISTANT FIRE CHIEF FLSA: Exempt
The Town of Southern Shores is located on Outer Banks of North Carolina and is a coastal community, with a year-round population of approximately 3,000, which swells to well over 10,000 during the tourist season. Southern Shores Fire Department is a combination department with a paid Chief, Deputy Chief, Asst. Chief and 2 admin staff. The department is currently seeking a highly motivated, qualified candidate for position of Assistant Fire Chief. Emphasis of the work is on serving as a command officer and management of assigned duties, responsibilities and authorities of the department.
Desired Education and Experience:
A Bachelor¡¦s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in fire science, fire administration, public administration, or a related field and a minimum of Eight (8) years professional supervisory experience. Considerable experience of an increasingly responsible nature in fire service management; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
