Location: John Prince Park, Lake Worth
Hours: 7:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M., Monday - Friday
Other: Valid Florida Driver¡¦s License and PBC Risk Management Department driving history approval prior to appointment.
Must be able to lift 25 pounds.

Responsible supervisory and administrative work in the management of natural areas within park property which includes supervisory work in the maintenance and enhancement of natural and other resources under development, or existing within the parks system. Responsible for planning, coordinating and supervising the work of park employees engaged in the maintenance and general operations of County parks including the overall management of Natural Areas, exotic removal and controlled burns and Animal Management Program. Work involves supervising a large number of employees engaged utilizing heavy equipment and other specific park maintenance functions. During a natural disaster or hurricane, this position will be essential in coordinating clean up efforts and repairs within Palm Beach County Parks. Employee must routinely coordinate efforts with citizens and other agencies. Work requires the exercise of independent judgement regarding work methods and procedures to be utilized which are reviewed for conformance to federal, State and local laws and ordinances by the Director of Parks.

Bachelor¡¦s Degree in one of the Physical or Natural Sciences, Environmental Studies, Landscape Architecture or Engineering; minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in environmental protection/regulation or natural resources management including two (2) years of supervisory experience. Equivalencies: Related Master¡¦s Degree AND four (4) years of professional experience in environmental protection/regulation or natural resources management including two (2) years of supervisory experience OR related Ph.D. and three (3) years of related experience including two (2) years of supervisory experience.
PREFERENCE FOR: Two (2) years of experience supervising and directing prescribed burning as a Burn Boss/Incident Commander. Also desirable: Possession of a Florida Certified Prescribed Burn Manager or higher certification.
