Accounting Specialist II
Location: US-OH-Oakwood
Job Details:
The City of Oakwood is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Accounting Specialist II (Payroll) for the Finance Department. The Accounting Specialist reports to the Assistant Finance Director and performs payroll-related functions of the City.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Processes and posts regular bi-weekly and special payrolls for City employees.
- Collects summaries of hours worked, and calculates payroll figures, withholding taxes, benefit premiums, retirement allocations and other withholdings. Processes payroll-related direct deposits, including payroll, payroll deductions, ACH payments and check processing. Assists employees with questions and concerns regarding payroll, leave and other deductions.
- Preserves and updates necessary payroll and payroll-related files with confidentiality.
- Processes prenotes, pay adjustments, New Hire and OPERS reports for new hires and other changes which affect payroll.
- Prepares bi-weekly payroll reports, payroll deduction reports (union dues, income tax, health, dental and 125 plans), overtime reports for various departments, employee accrual and vacation lose or use schedules, quarterly and annual payroll reports, including payroll tax filings, W-2s, 941 deposits and other related reports. Reviews and compares reports to accounting database system summaries, verifying accuracy and reconciling errors.
- Assists account specialist - utility with phones, attends window, enters payments, schedules meter readings completes new resident forms when applicable. Assists in processing cash drawer and prepares daily bank deposits as well as final water bills (as needed); answers questions concerning new/delinquent accounts, department procedures and other appropriate information.
- Processes birth and death certificates. Assists with all quarterly and annual vital statistic department reports.
- Responds to inquiries and provides general and financial information to other departments and the public. Resolves routine issues independently and refers more complex situations to the appropriate supervisor.
- Performs all other related duties as required and assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in an office setting performing payroll, accounting, bookkeeping, or related duties is preferred.
- Valid Driver¡¦s License.
- Notary Public (may be obtained after employment).


COMPENSATION:
The current pay range is $20.84/hour to $35.33/hour depending on qualifications and knowledge, plus an excellent benefits package including but not limited to health and dental insurance, vision coverage, life insurance, paid leave, and enrollment in the pension program.
