The Mounds View Police Department is seeking to fill two (2) full time police officer positions. Lateral transfers are encouraged.
• Salary Range $68,078.40 ($32.73/hr) to $98,176.00 ($47.20/hr)
• $2500.00 hiring bonus for laterals
• Salary after three (3) years of service $90,064.00 ($43.30/hr)
• City pays up to $1200 per month for your health insurance deductible
• City contributes $200 per month into your Health Savings Account
• Overtime and holidays worked are paid at time and a half
• Four (4) hours of OT minimum for any court appearances while off duty
• $880 paid annually to the officer for uniform upkeep
• Officers in special assignments qualify for additional pay
• Overtime shifts are available monthly in the form of grant funded DWI/Traffic enforcement
• Holiday/Vacation time off accrued at 232 hours to 312 hours per year based upon years of service
• Sick time of 104 hours accrued per year
The Mounds View Police Department is a suburban agency where officers have the opportunity to stay busy but not feel overwhelmed. We are a small agency (21 officers) which means we are a close-knit team, and we have the benefit of various different assignments and extra duties that officers can work:
• SWAT and Hostage Negotiator
• Defensive Tactics Instructor
• Field Training Officer
• Traffic Enforcement Officer
• School Resource Officer
• Drug Task Force Officer
• Bike Patrol
• Neighborhood Resource Officer
• Two (2) K-9 Handlers
• Reserve Officer Liaison
• Two (2) Investigators
• Four (4) Sergeants
Our patrol officers work 12 hour shifts (6am to 6pm, 2pm to 2am, or 6pm to 6am) with every other weekend scheduled off. The City of Mounds View is heavily focused on officer wellness. Officers are given the opportunity to workout while on duty in our police department gym, wear load bearing vests, peer support, and receive mental wellness counseling. Officers can also take $75 per month from their sick leave to pay for a health club membership. The agency has excellent equipment and is one (1) of two (2) agencies in the state to have a virtual reality use of force simulator.
